NEW DELHI : Writer of the book ‘Aarushi’ based on one of the most infamous and complicated murder mysteries of modern India, Avirook Sen today spoke about the nitty gritty of the case during a session at Times Literature Festival Delhi.

He said, “The essence of case got lost in the media frenzy and botched initial hypothesis by UP Police. An innocent girl got killed in her own home and whole of the state machinery failed to find the accused. It surely raises staggering questions about our complete mechanism”.

He was also joined by Bachi Karakaria, another renowned investigative journalist who covered the infamous Nanavati case.

She said, “There seems to be a pressure to churn eyeball grabbing headlines no matter how much one has to twist the tales. Also in fast, breaking news era there is also a pressure to be prompt instead of being factually accurate”.

The two eminent authors also spoke about various less known facts that they unearthed while researching for their books. They also took questions from the audience and touched about different shades of the two most famous murder cases, both of which have already inspired many books and Bollywood movies.
