National News (31 August 2026): American software major Adobe has announced a major education initiative in India aimed at equipping students and teachers in government schools with digital creativity and artificial intelligence (AI) skills. As part of the programme, Adobe has entered into partnerships with seven states — Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Goa, Assam, Bihar and Tamil Nadu.
Under the initiative, thousands of government schools across these states will receive free access to Adobe Express for Education, enabling students and teachers to use digital tools for creative learning. The platform is designed to help students develop projects, create digital presentations, explore visual storytelling and produce creative content using modern digital technologies.
According to Adobe, the expansion of the programme will take its K-12 education initiative in India to nearly 7.8 million students and educators. The company said the programme is intended to strengthen digital literacy while helping young learners develop skills that are increasingly relevant to the changing education and employment landscape.
AI-Focused Learning for Students and Teachers
A key component of the initiative will be the Adobe Digital Academy, through which students and educators will have access to AI-focused learning programmes. The courses will introduce learners to the practical and creative use of AI, including AI-assisted content creation, digital storytelling, creative problem-solving and developing innovative ideas with technology.
The programme aims to move beyond conventional classroom learning by giving students opportunities to experiment with digital tools and emerging technologies. Adobe said such exposure can help learners build creativity, communication and technology-related skills that could prove valuable in future careers.
PM SHRI, CM SHRI and KGBV Schools Included
The initiative will cover schools associated with several major government education programmes, including PM SHRI schools, CM SHRI schools, Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas (KGBVs) and institutions under the Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS).
The inclusion of these institutions is expected to expand access to digital learning resources among students from diverse backgrounds, particularly those studying in government-run schools.
Adobe has indicated that it plans to further expand the programme in India in the coming period, potentially bringing digital creativity and AI learning opportunities to a larger number of students and educators.
Focus on India’s Growing AVGC Sector
The company has also linked the initiative with the government’s focus on the Animation, Visual Effects, Gaming and Comics (AVGC) sector. The sector has received greater attention under the Union Budget 2026-27, with efforts aimed at strengthening India’s creative economy and developing a skilled workforce.
With the demand for professionals in technology-driven creative industries expected to rise significantly, Adobe estimates that India could require nearly 2 million trained professionals in the AVGC sector by 2030.
The company believes that introducing students to digital creativity and AI at the school level could help create an early talent pipeline for these emerging industries.
Adobe’s Long-Term Presence in India
Adobe has been operating in India since 1997 and has established a significant presence in the country. The company currently employs more than 8,000 people in India and has positioned the country as an important market for its technology, education and innovation initiatives. Through its latest school education programme, Adobe aims to strengthen digital and AI capabilities among students and teachers while preparing young learners for an increasingly technology-driven future.
