After NCLT nod, top industry watchers give big thumbs up to the Zee-Sony merger

Mumbai(India), 14/08/23: Analysts and industry watchers have witnessed the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) approval of the merger between Zee Entertainment Enterprises (ZEEL) and Sony Pictures Network India (now named Culver Max Entertainment) as a positive step forward.
With 75 channels, two OTT platforms, and two studios, and a significant presence in genres like entertainment and sports, as well as regional markets, the united business is the second-largest entertainment network behind Disney Star.
In a note by, Emkay Global stated NCLT approving the merger, “s a major shot in the arm for Zee, also dismissing all related objections.”
Zee and Sony signed a merger at the end of 2021 to integrate their respective television networks, excluding digital assets, product operations, and programme libraries. Sony’s shareholders would own 50.86 percent of the combined firm, Zee’s promoters will own 3.99 percent, and ZEEL’s shareholders will own the remaining 45.15 percent.
