AFTER ONE MONTH OF KEJRIWAL RULE PEOPLE OF DELHI FEEL DUPED
New Delhi, 17th March. Delhi BJP President Shri Satish Upadhyay today said that Aam Aadmi Party which sold dreams to Delhi is now trying to deflect public attention from the dreams. Shri Upadhyay said that before the elections Shri Arvind Kejriwal showed many dreams to the people who after seeing his one month working are feeling duped.
Shri Kejriwal had promised entire Delhi electricity at half rates, 20,000 litre free water on each connection, blanket ban on change of water meters, free wi-fi to entire Delhi, installation of CCTV and posting of marshals in buses.
Shri Upadhyay said that after winning elections Kejriwal Government has started showing its true colors. Before the elections Shri Arvind Kejriwal and his team raised a lot of hue and cry over installation of AMR water meters, they even lodged a FIR in this context. Once in power Delhi Jal Board headed by the Chief Minister has forcibly started a campaign of installing the same AMR meters against which the Chief Minister had then lodged a FIR. For last one month Delhi Jal Board teams accompanied by police are working overtime to change water meters and install AMR meters. Those like the residents of Model Town who protest are issued show cause notices and threatened by officials with disconnection and water theft cases. Duped consumers today ponder how the meters which were defective before the election have suddenly gained favor with Kejriwal Government?
Similarly, as in his earlier 49 days stint sold the dream of 20,000 litres free water to entire Delhi but once in power Kejriwal has restricted this benefit to hardly 30 percent of Delhi having metered connection. People in illegal colonies, Jhuggi clusters and rural Delhi who do not have metered connections stand nowhere. Half the Delhi is still living on water tanker supply. Above all, the moment a consumer uses 20,001 litre he has to pay for the entire consumption. Duped people of Delhi are pondering what is this subsidy and when will they get proper water supply?
Shri Upadhyay has said that before the elections Shri Kejriwal and his party went on roof tops announcing 50 percent slashing of power tariff. Once in power they have now forgotten the 50 percent slash promise and now have announced a subsidy for consumers using up to 400 units. This subsidy scheme is a face wash as the benefit has got restricted to hardly 25 percent of consumers. During the President rule while presenting Delhi Budget Union Finance Minister Shri Arun Jaitley had given subsidy to all consumers irrespective of their total consumption for first 400 units. Duped Delhi wants to know subsidy was there earlier too, when will the tariff go down?
During his campaign AAP sold the dream of free wi-fi to the people of Delhi especially the Youth. People thought that the intellectual team of Kejriwal must be having a well thought of scheme on this but once in power Kejriwal now says that this will take time. The Government has in fact brought out a proposal inviting suggestion from people on this. Duped youth of Delhi today ponder that does the delay has relation to the implementation of the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi scheme on making 20 metropolitan cities internet savvy?
Issue of providing security to the women of Delhi was a primary part of AAP agenda. They promised immediate posting of marshals in all buses and installation of CCTV all over Delhi. One month later women of Delhi travel as before with marshals nowhere in sight and CCTV a forgotten project. Duped women are thinking did they fault by trusting Kejriwal who has even otherwise let down the women by even refusing them any place in his Government?
Shri Upadhyay said that bringing transparency and credibility in governance was one of the primary issues of AAP. Last year in September, 2014 the process of nominating Delhi Medical Council was initiated and with the permission of Election Commission the Lt. Governor notified it on 7th January, 2015 nominating four senior doctors including a Padmabhusan. Once in power the proclaimers of transparency in Governance without citing any reason revoked the DMC nominated by the Lt. Governor and the new Health Minister Shri Satender Jain nominated four new members one of them who had lost two elections on AAP ticket Dr. Arun Gupta and another against whom a heinous case is under inquest. Duped Delhi feels is this honesty, credibility and transparency in Governance?
Shri Upadhyay has said that a period of one month is very less to analyze a Government’s performance but the way things are turning up it appears that people of Delhi are set to face hardships. BJP will extend all its co-operation in public interest to the Government but as a responsible opposition we will not let Government sit upon its dream promises made to the people.
