Mumbai, 12th May 2023: Former Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray raised questions over the legality of the election of state Assembly Speaker Rahul Narvekar. He emphasised on the SC order pronounced yesterday and asked for a review of the same.
At a press conference in Mumbai, the leader also urged PM Narendra Modi to appeal to the current Eknath Shinde-Devendra Fadnavis government to resign and face elections to ‘save the image of the country, Hindutva and Maharashtra.’
He added that his faction of the Shiv Sena party would not hesitate to approach the SC again if Narvekar fails to take a step on disqualifying the 16 rebel Shiv Sena MLAs within a stipulated time.
This decision aligns with the SC ruling that gives the state Assembly Speaker the power to decide on the disqualification row against Shinde and the 15 other rebel MLAs.
