Agnikul Cosmos unveils India’s first privately built rocket launchpad
Nov 28, 2022: Agnikul Cosmos, a space technology startup from Chennai, inaugurated India’s first-ever privately devised and operated launchpad. The inauguration took place at the Satish Dhawan Space Center in Sriharikota.
The facility has been crafted by Agnikul and built in collaboration with the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) and the Indian National Space Promotion and Authorization Centre (IN-SPACe).
The launchpad is divided into two sections: the Agnikul launchpad (ALP) and the Agnikul mission control centre (AMCC). A distance of 4 kilometres separates them both.
The launchpad will cater to liquid-stage controlled launches in addition to addressing the need for the ISRO’s range operations team to monitor key flight safety parameters during launches.
