Patna, June 13 (IANS) A wave of grief swept through Kayamnagar village in the Koilwar block of Bhojpur district after news emerged that 22‑year‑old Agniveer Vayu airman Danish Alam lost his life in an Indian Air Force aircraft crash in Assam while serving the nation on Saturday.
According to reports, an Antonov An‑32 aircraft of the Indian Air Force crashed near the Jorhat Air Force Station in Assam.
Five personnel reportedly lost their lives in the tragic incident, including Danish Alam, who had recently joined service under the Agniveer Vayu scheme.
Danish Alam was the only son of Mohammad Farooq Alam and Akhtari Begum. His father works in a private company in the Gaya district, while his mother is a homemaker. He is survived by his two elder sisters, Shagufta Parveen and Ghazala Parveen.
Family members and villagers were left devastated after receiving the news of his death.
Residents of Kayamnagar described Danish as a disciplined and patriotic young man who had dreamed of joining the armed forces since childhood. His determination eventually led to his selection under the Agniveer Vayu recruitment scheme.
He joined duty at the Bihta Air Force Station on June 29, 2025, before undergoing training in Belgaum, Karnataka.
According to family members, Danish had recently returned home on leave on May 23 and spent time with his family before resuming duty on May 30. None of them imagined it would be their final meeting with him.
As news of the crash spread, villagers, relatives, social workers and local representatives gathered at the family’s residence to offer condolences. The atmosphere in the village turned mournful, with many remembering Danish as a courageous son of Bhojpur who sacrificed his life while serving the country.
People in the area said that although the village lost a promising young man, the nation gained a brave soldier whose sacrifice would continue to inspire future generations.
Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary expressed grief over the tragic incident.
In a post on his official X handle, Choudhary said the news of the demise of the five air warriors was extremely heartbreaking and soul‑rending. He said Squadron Leader Prashant Singh, Flight Lieutenant Shubham Kumar, Sergeant Jitendra Sharma, Agniveer Vayu Khemaram Kumawat and Agniveer Vayu Danish Alam had made the supreme sacrifice on the path of national service. He added that the nation would forever remember their indomitable courage, devotion to duty and dedication, and prayed for strength for the bereaved families.
