New Delhi (29 March 2025): The Education Promotion Society for India (EPSI) hosted a landmark event on Friday, celebrating the release of ‘The Road Ahead 2.0: A Seminal Work on AI’. The book, authored by Dr. T.G Sitharam and co-authored by Yogi Kochhar, delves into the rapidly evolving role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and its transformative potential across industries and society as a whole. The release event brought together a distinguished group of dignitaries, industry leaders, and academic experts, all eager to explore the themes discussed in the book and engage with the authors about the future trajectory of technology and its global implications.
During a special interaction with TEN News, Dr. H. Chaturvedi, Alternate President of EPSI and Director General at IILM Lodhi Road, shared his insights on the book. The title The Road Ahead 2.0 is authored by Dr. T.G Sitharam, Chairman of AICTE, and co-authored by Yogi Kochhar, who is known as India’s Happiness Guru and also has a significant presence in the USA. The book draws inspiration from the famous 1995 work The Road Ahead by Bill Gates, which predicted that within a decade, Artificial Intelligence would reshape the technological landscape. Dr. Sitharam thought it was crucial to write a new book that would explore how this ‘AI revolution’ will transform technology, business, education, and every aspect of life globally. The book release event was organized by EPSI, which represents private sector colleges and universities, Dr. Chaturvedi explained.
He further added, the core message delivered by Dr. Sitharam and Yogi Kochhar was that we must adapt to the challenges posed by artificial intelligence. Additionally, the authors emphasized how AI could contribute to improving India’s economic growth, ultimately helping the country achieve its vision of becoming a developed nation by 2047.
While the book explores the immense potential of AI, Dr. Chaturvedi also cautioned about its negative implications. We must be cautious of AI’s misuse, which could harm society. It’s imperative that we set up safeguards or ‘guardrails’—control mechanisms—to prevent any potential misuse of AI. These guardrails should ensure that AI works for the benefit of humanity rather than against it, he said.
In a thought-provoking remark during the event, Yogi Kochhar suggested, “Let’s close all the labs and just open one AI lab.” This sparked a response from Dr. Chaturvedi, who addressed the uniqueness of Kochhar’s statement, saying, this is a unique style, but I think it will be difficult for AICTE to issue guidelines based on the recommendations of just one person. The academic community involved in decision-making cannot bypass its process. AICTE cannot simply say, ‘Yogi Kochhar said we should remove all labs and keep only AI labs.’ We do need AI labs, but we should not eliminate other essential labs. All disciplines are important in their own way.
Dr. Chaturvedi also discussed the growing importance of AI across various academic disciplines. Management, Economics, and STEM fields are embracing AI, and these fields will advance far ahead of other disciplines such as Social Sciences, Humanities, and Liberal Arts. STEM professionals and management experts around the world are leveraging AI in teaching, learning, and making students employable by equipping them with the skills needed to apply AI in real-world scenarios, he stated.
He emphasized that while the number of theoreticians required in society is limited, the demand for problem solvers is immense. The AI revolution will prepare more problem solvers who can tackle small and big challenges across the globe. We need more individuals who can develop practical solutions to the world’s problems, Dr. Chaturvedi said, underscoring the importance of training individuals who are adapt at applying AI to solve complex issues.
The event also featured dynamic discussions on how AI can enhance the education system in India and fuel the nation’s progress in the global technological race. The release of The Road Ahead 2.0 is a pivotal moment in the ongoing dialogue about the integration of AI into everyday life and its impact on education, business, and society. The book serves as a call to action for policymakers, educators, and industry leaders to prepare for the future and harness AI’s potential for the collective good. The event marked an important step in the ongoing exploration of AI’s role in shaping the future. With calls for innovation, caution, and strategic integration, the release of The Road Ahead 2.0 signals the need for continued collaboration to guide India toward a prosperous future driven by AI.
