New Delhi, August 28, 2023: A remarkable incident unfolded on a Vistara flight when a two-year-old child experienced a sudden medical emergency and stopped breathing.

However, the quick response of five doctors from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), who happened to be on the same flight, led to the child’s miraculous recovery. The incident occurred during the flight’s journey from Bengaluru to Delhi.

The doctors, identified as professionals from AIIMS, immediately attended to the child as the airline crew made an emergency announcement. Their swift intervention and medical expertise were instrumental in stabilizing the child’s condition.

AIIMS took to Twitter to share details of the incident, explaining the critical situation and the subsequent actions taken. “While returning from Bangalore in Vistara Airline flight UK-814, a distress call was announced. It was a 2-year-old cyanotic female child who was operated outside for intracardiac repair,” the official AIIMS handle tweeted.

The child’s condition was dire as she exhibited symptoms like absent pulse, cold extremities, and cyanosed lips and fingers. The doctors initiated immediate CPR on the flight, utilizing the limited resources available. As the situation demanded prompt medical attention, the flight was diverted to Nagpur.

In Nagpur, the AIIMS doctors successfully conducted surgery on the child, leading to a positive outcome. Currently, the child’s condition is reported to be stable, highlighting the life-saving impact of the doctors’ timely and expert intervention.
