Lucknow, 17th June 2023: Samajwadi party chief Akhilesh Yadav unveiled his strategy for defeating the ruling BJP in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. He predicted that the PDA – Pichle, Dalit, Alpasankhyak (Backward Classes, Dalits, Minorities) – would defeat the NDA.
Yadav dodged pointed queries about his party’s position on a big united Opposition front for next year’s general elections, insisting that his only slogan for Uttar Pradesh is “Defeat 80, Remove BJP.”
“The BJP will be defeated in all 80 Lok Sabha seats in UP if bigger national parties back us,” Akhilesh Yadav stated, emphasising that he has always maintained that seat distribution should be decided based on which coalition partner is strongest in a given state.
Yadav referenced his party’s previous partnerships for state and national elections with the Congress and Mayawati’s BSP, arguing the Samajawadi Party has always been an honest and flexible alliance partner.
“Wherever SP has been in alliance, you wouldn’t hear of us fighting over seats,” he explained.
