Alia Bhatt to Lead a YRF Spy Universe Movie, Will Play a Super Agent

Mumbai, 14th July 2023: Alia Bhatt may soon be joining Aditya Chopra’s spy universe. Pathaan, the most recent film in Yash Raj Films’ ambitious spy universe, was a box office success this year.

The following film would be Tiger 3 starring Salman Khan. Among all of these releases, Alia Bhatt has reportedly signed on to play a spy and star in a large budget spy film that will go into production next year.

Alia had previously portrayed a spy in, Raazi, but her role in the YRF film will purportedly see her in a completely unseen avatar. Alia is currently anticipating the release of, Heart of Stone, her Hollywood debut in which she portrays the antagonist.

Pinkvilla quoted a source saying, “Aditya Chopra and the team have planned an epic female-led spy film with Alia Bhatt which is expected to push her to the edge. Alia’s inclusion to the Spy Universe indicates that Aditya Chopra is leaving no audience segment out of the equation.”

The source added, “She will be playing a spy in an out-and-out action entertainer, and this will be a big novelty for the audience base that she appeals to. It’s going to be Alia Bhatt like never before. Aditya Chopra is very bullish about Alia and has big plans for her character arc in his universe. He is looking to start a franchise within the Spy Universe cantered around Alia’s character and he will pull all stops to mount the yet untitled film on a scale that none can imagine.”

YRF’s spy universe began with Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif’s 2012 film, Ek Tha Tiger, which was followed by the 2017 sequel, Tiger Zinda Hai. Hrithik Roshan debuted in the spy genre with the 2019 film, War which also starred Tiger Shroff, however his character died in the film.

Pathaan, starring Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone, and John Abraham, was released later that year. Tiger 3, is now in production and will reunite Salman and Katrina. War 2, starring Hrithik Roshan, and Tiger vs. Pathaan, featuring Salman and Shah Rukh, are both in development.
