New Delhi (India), 5th May 2023: Following the collapse of low-cost airline Go First, Tata Sons-owned Air India, Vistara, and IndiGo have launched recruiting drives for pilots and cabin crew.
Go First, which declared bankruptcy, has temporarily ceased operations until May 15. The bankruptcy procedures have jeopardised the careers of around 800 cockpit staff and approximately 2,000 cabin crew at Go First. Go First, formerly known as Go Airlines (India) Ltd, employs around 7,000 people.

In terms of the Air India recruiting drive, the airline is looking for Captains, as well as trainers and co-pilots, with A320 endorsement. The recruiting event will take place in three cities: Gurugram (May 4-5), Bengaluru (May 4-5), and Mumbai (5 May). Pilots from other Tata companies are not eligible to apply, according to the company.
Air India stated, “Candidates currently employed, must produce a ‘no objection certificate’ from their current employer, at the time of joining Air India.”
A320 (Trainee Pilot, Pilot in Command), B777/B787 (PIC/Co-Pilot), and B737 (PIC/Co-Pilot) positions are available. Walk-in interviews for Cabin Crew (Female) will also be held in Chennai and Delhi on May 9 and 15, respectively.
Similarly, Vistara is recruiting for Cabin Crew, Pilots, and aircraft maintenance technicians. Candidates for aviation maintenance technicians must have an AME certificate or a Diploma in B1 or B2 trades, as well as a minimum of three years experience on the Airbus 320.
B2 candidates with an RT licence will be preferred as well. The interviews will take place in Mumbai and Gurugram on May 5th and 7th, 2023, respectively.
Speaking of IndiGo, the low-cost carrier is hiring for its operations team. Walk-ins will be available for Ahmedabad, Bagdogra, Chandigarh, Chennai, Delhi, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Indore, Kolkata, Lucknow, Madurai, Nagpur, Pune, Ranchi, and Tirupati, according to an IndiGo tweet.
The organisation will be recruiting for Lead Cabin Attendant ATR positions in Mumbai and Kolkata, Cabin Crew (ATR) positions in Kolkata, and Cabin Crew (Airbus) positions in Mumbai.
Meanwhile, dozens of pilots, many from the troubled Go First airline, gathered to a Tata group hotel in Delhi on Thursday for walk-in interviews with the conglomerate’s Air India.
Talking to Reuters one of the pilots said, “It is very disheartening, the airline was functioning as if everything was normal…We have to jump ship in order to keep our flying licences current.”
