After completing her Masters in Mathematics and Bachelor in Education, she wanted to become a filmmaker but the commercial pot-boilers were not her idea of telling stories. Moreover, she wanted to do everything on her own and raise funds for the same.
Deciding to make enough money to make her film, Anupam got pursued different passions for about 20 years and built a successful career as a teacher, a sales coordinator with SetMax, and a technical recruiter in USA.
After gaining financial stability to pursue her creative endeavours, Anupam returned to her first love – film-making – in 2018. In year 2018-19, she completed her film making course from IFI (New Delhi) and FTII (Pune). Her first film ‘Gutter Boy – A Journey to Hell’ is a self-funded project depicting the harsh lives of sewer cleaners and the ugly caste divide in India. The film has already been selected as the official entry to several film festivals including the prestigious Bridges International Film Festival, Greece, Darbhanga International Film Festival and Chinh Youth Film Festival, among others. The project not only got nominations in Best Feature Film, Best Story Category but also won her nominations for Best Direction.
Recently, the UK premiere of her movie was held at Watermans, London and it officially got selected for Ottawa Indian Film Festival Awards 2021 OIFFA, Canada.
Moreover, he debut film has also been nominated for Best Director category in Standalone film festival 2021, USA. The film was also screened on 8th August 2021 at TCL Chinese Theatre, Hollywood, Los Angeles, USA.
