Anurag Kashyap’s ‘Kennedy’ to be screened at the 76th Cannes Film Festival

Mumbai (India), 14th April 2023: The organisers of the 76th Cannes Film Festival said have announced that they will screen “Kennedy” by director Anurag Kashyap. The movie will be shown at the prestigious film gala’s Midnight Screenings segment.
At a press conference in Cannes, film distributor Iris Knobloch and Thierry Fremaux, director of the Cannes Film Festival, made the announcement.
The Cannes Film Festival (Festival de Cannes) also shared the update on its official Twitter page. The Tweet read, “KENNEDY by Anurag KASHYAP #SeanceDeMinuit / #MidnightScreenings #Cannes2023.”
The Cannes Film Festival has seen many appearances by Anurag Kashyap. His multigenerational gangster cult classic “Gangs of Wasseypur” (2012) had previously screened at the 2012 Cannes Directors’ Fortnight, a separate selection of the Cannes Film Festival.
The anthology movie “Bombay Talkies,” on which Kashyap worked as one of the directors, had its world premiere during the 2013 Cannes Film Festival’s Special Screenings.
This year the historical drama “Jeanne du Barry” by Maiwenn, starring Johnny Depp, will kick off the festival. The Cannes 2023 will take place on May 16 and end on May 27. The festival will be overseen by Ruben stlund, a Swedish director who has won the Palme d’Or for his films “The Square” and “Triangle of Sadness.”
The Indian representation at the 2022 Cannes Festival was also significant. The festival’s jury, which chose the 2022 Palme d’Or Honors winners, included Deepika Padukone.
Apart from Deepika Padukone, Aditi Rao Hydari, Urvashi Rautela, Helly Shah, Pooja Hegde, R Madhavan, and Tamannaah Bhatia, among others attended the film festival.
