New Delhi, June 30, 2022: On Tuesday, June 28, 2022, the Export Promotion Council of Handicrafts organized its 23rd Handicrafts Export Awards. The awards honor the exporters who have made significant contributions to the country’s development and exports of handicrafts.
Earthbag Exports was awarded that evening at the show. The company is from Calcutta and excels in jute and cotton shopping bags. Anurag Himatsingka the managing director of the company dedicated this award to “all the environment conscious people, those are the people who opt for these bags and because of whom we get the sales.”
“I think the handicrafts sector is growing and booming every year,” Mr. Himatsingka said. “I think no other country has such a wide variety of products and stuffs that we in India do,” he said regarding the opportunities in the industry. “So the scope is enormous. All the countries and importers want to be here,” he said. “The challenges are there with the infrastructure but I think with every year passing by, we as exporters, we realize the demand, every day we are trying to build the infrastructure and our own capacities.”
“The award is the reason we have built a new certified green-building factory,” he said proudly.
“Anybody who wants to get into exports of handicrafts should be a part of EPCH,” he said. “Without them I wouldn’t be standing here. EPCH definitely helps any newcomer to get support by doing various incentive programs, and their support for the fairs,” he said. “I think it is one of the finest institutions.”
