New Delhi (India), 22nd April 2023: In a meeting on Friday, Apple CEO Tim Cook and Sunil Bharti Mittal, the founder and chairman of the Bharti Group, reaffirmed their commitment to collaborate more closely in the markets of India and Africa.
Bharti Group said in a statement on Friday that the two gentlemen held talks for more than an hour. They said, “Tim Cook and Sunil Bharti Mittal had an hour-long meeting this morning. While expressing their satisfaction on the ongoing long relationship that Apple and Airtel have had, (they) reaffirmed their commitment to work more closely in the Indian and African market.”
Cook has been in India for the past five days, his second trip there since 2016. Cook opened Mumbai’s first Apple Store on April 18 and Delhi’s second on April 20.
He also had meetings with Tata Sons Chairman N Chandrasekaran and billionaire Mukesh Ambani, Chairman of Reliance Industries, earlier in the week in Mumbai.
He met Rajeev Chandrasekhar, Ashwini Vaishnaw the Ministers of information technology and Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Delhi. According to sources, Cook has assured the government that through its contract manufacturing in India, it will increase its workforce to two lakh workers over the following few years.
Along with meeting famous individuals and artists while visiting India, Cook also attended a Thursday IPL cricket match between Delhi and Kolkata at Delhi’s Arun Jaitley Stadiaum.
