Applications for 10,000 auto-rickshaws invited

In a bid to ensure that the Capital gets the prescribed number of auto-rickshaws required for last-mile connectivity, the Transport Department here has invited applications to issue 10,000 such permits. The vacancy is part of the one-lakh cap fixed by the Supreme Court on the number of auto-rickshaws here. Though a senior official said the Department was seeking to clear the backlog of permits up for grabs, for which there had not been many takers so far, it had been decided to give preference to women applicants.
