Atiq, brother Ashraf shot dead in front of cameras, internet suspected in Prayagraj

Prayagraj (U.P), 15th April 2023: Atiq Ahmed, a gangster-turned-politician, and his brother Ashraf Ahmed were shot and killed on Saturday in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh.

Atiq Ahmed and his brother were assassinated, according to the Prayagraj commissioner, by three gunmen who came disguised as journalists. Video of the the gruesome incident has been circulating in the media.

The assailants opened fire at the duo near a medical college where they were being transported for a checkup. Reportedly one media person has also been injured during the shooting.

UP Chief Minister has called an urgent meeting in lieu of the assassination while police and forensic specialists check the crime scene.

Meanwhile, the internet services have been suspended in Prayagraj.
