Back to back national honours for KITE reinforces Kerala’s lead in AI-driven education

Thiruvananthapuram, Jan 17 (IANS) Kerala Infrastructure and Technology for Education (KITE), the state government’s nodal agency spearheading digital initiatives in the general education sector, has once again earned national recognition, underscoring Kerala’s growing stature in technology-enabled public education.

KITE’s flagship artificial intelligence platform, Samagra Plus, has been honoured at the 6th Governance Now Digital Transformation Summit. The award, presented in the category of ‘Excellence in e-learning, Assessment and Digital Education Platform’, was conferred in Delhi.

The recognition places Samagra Plus among the country’s most impactful digital governance initiatives, particularly in the education domain. Samagra Plus is an AI-powered learning platform designed to personalise education based on the academic level, learning pace, and individual needs of students.

The system brings together a suite of advanced tools, including AI-enabled chatbots, interactive quizzes, English language learning games, speech assistants, and specialised assessment modules. Together, these components aim to move classrooms away from a one-size-fits-all approach and towards adaptive, student-centric learning.

KITE CEO K. Anvar Sadath said the platform was developed strictly within the boundaries of the prescribed curriculum, addressing a key concern often associated with artificial intelligence in education. “By aligning AI tools closely with the curriculum framework, Samagra Plus effectively eliminates the risk of algorithmic bias while ensuring pedagogical integrity,” he noted.

The latest honour marks the second major national award for Samagra Plus in quick succession. In December 2025, the platform received the Education Technology Transformation Award at the 19th Digital Transformation Conclave held in Bhubaneswar, highlighting its growing acceptance at the national level.

Education experts view the consecutive awards as validation of Kerala’s long-term investments in public digital infrastructure for schooling. At a time when states across India are experimenting with AI in classrooms, Samagra Plus stands out for embedding innovation within a robust public education framework.

With national attention now firmly on Kerala’s model, KITE’s achievement reinforces the state’s reputation as a front-runner in leveraging technology to enhance equity, quality, and access in school education.
