New Delhi (12/10/2022): Following its widespread acceptance and popularity, Beti Bachao Beti Padhao scheme has been expanded by the Central Government to aid more girls in getting decent skills to earn a livelihood.
Under the new inclusions in the scheme, skilling the girls from the non-traditional livelihood is now an option in the flagship programme.
Apart from this, the scheme shall also work on increasing the number of girls enrolled in secondary education, specially in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics( STEM).
Talking about the new scheme, Minister for Women and Child Development Smriti Irani outlined importance of having convergence between the various departments for providing quality education to empower the girls.
She also interacted with adolescent girls who overcame gender-based discrimination.
