Bhim Army chief Chandra Shekhar Aazad attacked, undergoing treatment

Uttar Pradesh, 29th June 2023: Unidentified assailants shot at Bhim Army head Chandra Shekhar Aazad in Deoband on Wednesday, police said.

He had gone to a ‘terhavi’ ritual at the home of a supporter. Azad was attacked after leaving the parking area in his SUV.

Superintendent of Police (City) Abimanyu Manglik said, “The assailants were in a car and opened fire on Azad’s SUV from the right side. A bullet grazed his abdomen. He has been admitted to a hospital.”

According to police reports, the offenders fled the scene immediately after the incident. The police are looking into the situation.

SSR Vipin Tada said, “ The convoy of Chandra Shekhar Aazad was fired at by a few car-borne armed men. A bullet brushed past him. He is alright and has been taken to CHC for medical treatment. Police are investigating the matter.”

While laying in the hospital bed, Chandra Shekhar Aazad stated that his men have identified his assailants.

Azad told ANI, “I don’t remember well but my people identified them. Their car went towards Saharanpur. We took a U-Turn. Five of us, including my younger brother, were in the car when the incident occurred.”
