Patna (India), April 28, 2023: In a shocking incident, Kailash Mahto, a senior leader of the Janata Dal (United) party, was shot dead by unidentified bike-borne assailants in the Barari Police Station area of Katihar, Bihar. The 70-year-old leader was shot multiple times in his stomach and head near his home on Thursday night.
According to sources, the motive behind the murder was a long-standing enmity over land. It is worth noting that the deceased leader had previously requested security from the administration a few days before the incident.
An investigation has been launched into the matter, and the police have assured that the culprits will be apprehended soon. The Katihar SDPO, Om Prakash, confirmed that around four to five rounds of firing were carried out, and further details will be available after the post-mortem examination.
