New Delhi, 16th February: On Monday, Education Promotion Society for India (EPSI) and All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) held an interactive session to deliberate on the proposed “Approval Process Handbook” and “National Education Policy-2020”.

Speaking at the interactive session, Dr. H. Chaturvedi, Alternate President, EPSI & Director, BIMTECH presented the perspective of the EPSI on Approval Process Handbook-2021-22, implementation of NEP-2020 and opening of college and university campuses.

“EPSI believes that the dream of making India a 5 trillion economy passes through a strong and vibrant education. Unless we are able to produce talented engineers, managers, doctors, teachers and scientists who can compete globally and who can learn new skills after every 3-5 years, India cannot achieve growth rate of 8-10% per annum which is crucial now due to all round destruction caused by the pandemic,” said Dr. Chaturvedi.

“In India, both school education and higher education has suffered due to the pandemic and it has impacted parents, students, teachers, staffs and even the promoters. Private institutions faced financial crunches because admissions were low and shifting to 100% online education mode was a costly affair,” added Dr H Chaturvedi requesting the AICTE Chairman to restore financial viability to a large number of private colleges.

BIMTECH Director also thanked AICTE for paying heed towards the challenges faced by the private institutions during last 5-6 years, when its role was evolving from being a regulator with rigid rules to a national body guiding and supporting the institutions with “Transparency and holistic approach”.

On NEP 2020, Dr. Chaturvedi said, ”The NEP has provided a programmatic future path for making Indian education globally competitive with its major thrust on access, equality and excellence.”

More than 3,000 representatives of colleges, universities and institutions participated in this interactive session held in New Delhi.
