Exclusive Interview with Ten News Network: Director’s Insights
In an exclusive conversation with Ten News, Dr. Rajib elaborated on the significant milestones achieved over the past year. She categorized the progress into key focus areas: Academic Revamp and Faculty Enhancement: We spent enormous time revising the curriculum to make it more industry-relevant, especially by introducing subjects in IT, analytics, sustainability, and financial technologies. These changes are vital to ensure students are equipped for the demands of the modern workforce.
She further added, We have recruited 11 new faculty members, each with a doctoral degree from leading Indian institutions, covering domains such as strategy, IT, operations, finance, and data science. This will enhance the delivery and depth of our academic programs.
Financial Literacy and Technological Innovation: Highlighting the introduction of the Bloomberg Finance Lab, she said, Through the Bloomberg Lab, students can work on advanced data analysis and financial modeling, which enhances their practical exposure to market systems.
We launched BIMCoin — a student-developed digital currency — not as a financial instrument like Bitcoin, but as a learning model. Students use BIMCoin to buy food, books, and stationery on campus. They developed the entire IT architecture and programming behind it, giving them real-world exposure to blockchain and fintech.
Entrepreneurship as a Core Skill: Entrepreneurship is now a mandatory course at BIMTECH. Every group of 4-5 students receives a seed fund of Rs. 1,000 to build a business. Today, we have 100 active student startups, and many are generating revenue. We believe that at least 15-20 of these will scale into successful ventures.
Words of Wisdom for Graduating Students: When asked about her message to the graduating batch, Dr. Rajib emphasized the importance of lifelong learning and adaptability in today’s dynamic professional world. The job market is evolving rapidly — technologies like ChatGPT and AI are redefining workforce requirements. My advice to students is to develop a learning mindset, stay authentic, and embrace challenges with the right attitude. Companies value those who are willing to go the extra mile, and that willingness must come voluntarily and joyfully.
She concluded with a powerful note: Success comes to those who combine knowledge with the right mindset and attitude. Keep learning, stay curious, and stay true to yourself.
