New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Friday ordered that a floor test be conducted in the Karnataka Assembly on Saturday at 4 p.m. for BJP’s B.S. Yeddyurappa, who was sworn in on Thursday as Chief Minister, to prove his majority.

Congress lawyer Abhishek Manu Singhvi Addressing the press about the Karnataka trust vote decision after coming out of court, said “This is a historic decision. The court has said Yeddyurappa will not take any policy decision. The floor test will be at 4pm. Going by the situation on the ground.”

Addressing the media later in the day at Congress Head Quarters , Congress-JDS Lawyer, Abhishek Manu Singhvi Said, “We are surprised atthe BJP saying that we’re baffled. The BJP requested for time till Monday but have been given only until tomorrow. The BJP asked for secret ballots to be called for the floor test. We are ready for the floor test called for by the Supreme Court tomorrow. We are proud to have a Supreme Court that hears urgent matters at late night hours too as justice never sleeps.”

“BS Yeddyurappa cannot do magic or alter maths. On what basis did he give a letter without signatures and without a number. BS Yeddyurappa should not have claimed majority. They are aware that they cannot turn 104 to majority. They cannot muster numbers in a day. BJP seems to have already conceded defeat and are speaking under pressure. BJP seems to have already conceded defeat and are speaking under pressure”, added Singhvi.
