New Delhi (India), April 24, 2023: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has dismissed Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) supremo Sharad Pawar’s recent statement regarding the willingness of the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) parties to contest the upcoming Maharashtra assembly elections together, terming it his personal opinion.
The BJP’s state unit chief in Maharashtra, Chandrashekhar Bawankule, has alleged that there is confusion among MVA leaders and the general public about the extent to which the alliance will proceed.
When asked about the possibility of MVA parties contesting the elections together, Pawar had responded by stating that while there is a desire to work together, the issue of seat allocation and any potential problems have not yet been discussed.
Reacting to Pawar’s remarks, Bawankule stated that he would soon discover whether those abandoned by their own people could genuinely lead MVA. There is apparently uncertainty among the alliance’s leaders and the general public regarding the Maha Vikas Aghadi’s future, according to Bawankule.
Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) leader Sanjay Raut, on the other hand, expressed his belief that the MVA will contest the next assembly elections together. Raut, a key leader of Shiv Sena (UBT), emphasised that Maha Vikas Aghadi will remain, with Uddhav Thackeray and Sharad Pawar as its prominent leaders. He also stated that the current Maharashtra government, led by Eknath Shinde, and its 40 MLAs will collapse in the next 15-20 days.
Raut’s remarks came in the context of pending Supreme Court judgments, including one seeking the disqualification of 16 Shiv Sena MLAs who revolted against the Thackeray leadership. He added that his party was anticipating a just outcome from the top court.
