BJP legislators demand DDA to allocate land for public utilities in unauthorised colonies
A delegation of BJP MLAs led by Delhi BJP President, Shri Vijay Goel met Union Urban Development Minister Shri Kamal Nath on Tuesday and demanded that 100 regularised colonies and villages falling in the Badarpur and other assembly constituencies should be taken out from the “O’’ zone category to allow the local residents to carry out repair/construction in their houses as per building bye laws.

The delegation led by Shri Goel brought to the notice of Mr. Kamal Nath that due to application of “O’ zone in these colonies and villages, no developmental activity including construction of Hospitals, Dispensaries, Community Centres, and Schools can be being carried out even on the gram sabha land due to ban on construction activity in those areas which fall under “O’’ zone. This is highly discriminatory with lakhs of residents living in these colonies and villages and justice needs to be done with them without any further delay.

On this occasion, this was pointed out that these regularised colonies are situated more than 300 meters away from river Yamuna.

The BJP delegation also urged Shri Nath to issue directions to the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) to allocate adequate land in these areas for construction of schools, community centres and hospitals for the facility of the local residents as only DDA is authorized to allocate land.

It was also pointed out that in the rural villages of Delhi, no building bye laws were applicable and it was only on January 17, 2011 that DDA notified the building bye laws for rural villages of Delhi which is unfeasible keeping in mind the fact that there is no clear ownership of land or layout plans prepared for these villages so these rural villages should be exempted from application of building bye laws.

Shri Nath assured the delegation that he would take whatever steps possible to resolve the issue and would direct the officials concerned to address these issues with immediate effect so that a workable solution could be found.

The delegation included among others MLAs S/Sh. Ramvir Singh Bidhuri, Pawan Sharma, Dharamdev Solanki, Brahm Singh Tanwar, Sat Prakash Rana, Kulwant Rana and Ajeet Singh Kharkhari.
