New Delhi (India), April 5, 2023: BJP MLA Jibesh Kumar was forcibly removed from the Bihar assembly on Tuesday after allegedly creating a commotion during a discussion on the recent violence that occurred in the state following Ram Navami celebrations.

The ruling Mahagathbandhan government has been accused by the BJP of failing to curb the communal disturbances in Bihar Sharif and Sasaram towns.

The government, however, has claimed that there was BJP-RSS involvement in the clashes and criticized BJP leader Amit Shah’s remarks at a rally in Nawada district on Sunday, where he had vowed to “hang the rioters upside down” if the BJP came to power in the state. The administration has maintained that the riots in Sasaram and Bihar Sharif towns have not resulted in any casualties.

The action against Jibesh Kumar was taken by the government for insulting the speaker of the assembly. “Some leaders of the opposition today insulted the speaker. They called him ‘besharam’ (shameless), which is the biggest insult to the assembly,” said Bihar’s Agriculture Minister Kumar Sarvajeet.

The chief minister of Bihar, Nitish Kumar, alleged that communal tensions in the state were triggered by some people indulging in “gadbad” (mischief). “Communal tensions during Ram Navami festivities at Sasaram and Bihar Sharif are disturbing. Such incidents occurred for the first time in the area. It’s not natural,” he said.

The home ministry has decided to send additional paramilitary forces to Bihar after the recent violence in the state. The situation across the state is currently peaceful, according to the government.
