JIBRAN NAZIR
NEW DELHI : Castigating the BJP government at centre and several states, AAP nation spokesperson, Sanjay Singh during a press conference today said that BJP is responsible for the dismal condition of farmers across the country.
“During the present BJP government an average 35 farmers die everyday either by committing suicide or at the hands of authorities like in Mandsour, Madya Pradesh.”
Calling Shivraj Singh Chouhan’s hunger strike a drama to befool people, Singh asked what purpose does it serve for a sitting chief minister to do such drama rather than addressing the core issue.
Singh alleged that BJP’s government of murdering the farmers in Mandsour. “They kill the farmers then sit on a hunger strike.”
“We spoke to victim families of Mandsour,” Singh said, “and found that the place produces more than sixty two crops but the farmers are still commit suicide because they don’t get the deserved price for their crops.”
“Farmers have been for to sell their crops at rates that don’t even cover the cost price,” he said.
While taking to media persons AAP leader Somnath Bhati said that it is shameful how Prime Minister Modi is silent on the issue of farmer suicides.
“Before 2014 general elections BJP had promised that if they come to power they will provide fifty percent profit to the farmers, for their crops, in addition to the cost price. But now, when they fail to deliver, PM has been observing criminal silence over the issue,” Somnath said.
“When BJP could grant lakhs of crores of rupees to big business houses, why can’t they remit the farmer debts,” he asked.
