BJP suspends Telangana MLA Raja Singh over controversial remarks against Prophet

Telangana, August 23rd, 2022: Telangana MLA and BJP lawmaker, T Raja Singh, who is often in the news for his inflammatory speeches, was arrested on Tuesday for his derogatory remarks against Prophet Muhammad.
Protests broke out in Hyderabad wherein the protesters reported that Raja Singh hurt their religious sentiments and demanded his immediate arrest. Singh was soon taken into protective custody by police officials.
Amid his arrest, BJP has suspended the Telangana MLA.
They have served a show cause notice to Singh and asked him to submit his reply to the party within ten days to avoid expulsion from the party.
The suspension letter, signed by Om Pathak, a member of the party’s central disciplinary committee, said that Singh’s statement contradicts the party’s views and position.
“You have expressed views contrary to the party’s position on various matters, which is in clear violation of Rule XXV10 (a) of the constitution of the Bhartiya Janata Party. I have been directed to convey to you that pending further inquiry, you are suspended from the party and from our responsibilities/assignments if any, with immediate effect.” the letter said.
