BJP has taken no action against the guilty for 1984 Sikh Riots: AAP

New Delhi: After the Supreme Court ordered the constitution of a three-member Special Investigation Team (SIT) to relook 186 cases related to the 1984 anti-Sikh riots that followed Indira Gandhi’s assassination.

On Thursday in New Delhi, Aam Aadmi Party asked the BJP why they were not interested in acting against those involved in 1984 Sikh riots. AAP Rajya Sabha MP-Elect Sanjay Singh Addressing the media said, “BJP and Congress were involved in the most of the Riots in the country. whether it is 1984 Sikh riots or 2002, the BJP has taken no action against the guilty.The way Supreme Court has slammed BJP for closing the pending Riots cases clearly suggest BJP are supporting who were involved in 1984 Riots. You can see 1984 history, no proper investigation have been done who were involved in 1984 Riots.”

Speaking on the 84 Riots, Jarnail Singh,Vice President Delhi Punjabi Academy said, “How many witnesses died in past some years, the Central Government should now give protection to the surviving witnesses and complete the trial within one year, If there is a bit of shame in the Congress party, then they should remove Jagdish Tytler and Sajjan Kumar from the party.”

The anti-Sikh riots had broken out after the assassination of Indira Gandhi. She was killed by two of her bodyguards – both Sikhs – over her decision to allow the Indian Army to storm the Golden Temple in Amritsar in order to flush out militant religious leader Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale.
