Hyderabad, 09th July 2023: The Bharatiya Janata Party is all set to host a strategy meeting in Hyderabad today, a day after Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Telangana. The party prepares for critical state elections and the national election in 2024, which is only nine months away.
JP Nadda, President of the BJP, is supposed to preside over the conference, which 11 party state chiefs will attend. The party intends to identify deficiencies before the 2019 elections and develop an action plan, especially in light of the BJP’s recent defeat in Karnataka.
With Telangana assembly elections only six months away, the BJP is already dealing with a rare internal disagreement among the state leadership. Union Minister G Kishan Reddy was just elected president of the Telangana BJP.
This leadership transition saw Mr Reddy replace Bandi Sanjay, mirroring the party’s broader strategic rethinking in the state. Mr Reddy has been tasked with winning the upcoming state elections in Telangana, which might serve as a backdoor to the south for the BJP. PM Modi will also likely reshuffle his cabinet to boost the BJP ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
