Body of man found hanging from tree in North Delhi; police launch probe
New Delhi, May 25 (IANS) The body of a 38-year-old man was found hanging from a tree near the Yamuna Khadar area in Burari of North Delhi on Monday morning, police said.
The deceased has been identified as Akhilesh, a resident of the Burari area, who reportedly worked as an autorickshaw driver.
According to family members, he had left his house at around 10 P.M. on Sunday after having dinner and telling relatives that he was going out to buy some items. However, he did not return home during the night.
Akhilesh’s body was discovered early on Monday morning by people who had come to the area for a morning walk. After spotting the body hanging from a tree near the Yamuna Khadar stretch, locals informed the police.
Officials from Delhi Police and the Wazirabad Police Station reached the spot and took the body into custody. Police have launched an investigation to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the death.
Family members and locals said they were shocked by the incident and demanded a thorough probe into the matter.
One relative of the deceased said, “My daughter called me and told me that Akhilesh bhaiya had died. Then I came here today. I do not know much about what happened or how it happened. He used to drive an autorickshaw here.”
“He left the house around 10 P.M. and did not come back for a long time. Then, information spread that he was found hanging from a tree. We want a proper investigation into the matter. He had no dispute with anyone,” another relative of the deceased said.
Police officials said the exact cause of death will be determined after the post-mortem examination and further investigation. Authorities are also questioning people known to the deceased and examining all possible angles related to the case.
The police investigation is currently underway in the case.
