New Delhi, July 19, 2023: In a heinous crime that has sent shockwaves through Rajasthan’s Osian village, four family members, including a six-month-old baby girl, were brutally murdered and their bodies set on fire in their home’s courtyard. The incident has sparked fierce criticism from the opposition BJP, who have targeted the Ashok Gehlot government ahead of the upcoming Assembly polls.

According to the police, the gruesome crime occurred last night in Chaurai village. Local residents alerted the authorities after seeing smoke emanating from the residence of Punaram (55). Upon entering the house, the charred bodies of Punaram, his wife Bhanwri (50), and daughter-in-law Dhapu were discovered in the courtyard. Adjacent to Dhapu’s body lay the horrifying remains of her infant daughter.

The police believe that the killers slit the throats of the victims before dragging their bodies to the courtyard and setting them on fire. The motive behind the murders is suspected to be personal enmity, and all angles are being investigated.

Forensic experts are present at the crime scene, and top district officials, including Collector Himanshu Gupta and Jodhpur Rural police chief Dharmendra Singh, are closely monitoring the situation.

The BJP has seized upon the Jodhpur incident to criticize the Ashok Gehlot government’s handling of law and order. They have raised concerns about the state’s security situation and questioned the Chief Minister’s ability to govern effectively. Union Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal also accused the Congress government of a rise in daily reports of rapes and murders since coming to power.

With the Rajasthan Assembly polls approaching, the BJP’s criticism of Gehlot is likely to intensify, as they attempt to exploit any perceived weaknesses in the ruling party’s administration.
