BSP Leader Yakub Qureshi’s Daughter Booked For Assaulting Schoolchildren in Meerut

Meerut, July 13: Bahujan Samaj Party leader Yakub Qureshi’s daughter Najma has been booked, along with few others, for allegedly barging into a classroom and assaulting the classmates of his granddaughter’s classmates with sticks a day before. According to the reports, the school authorities have suspended all the girls from Qureshi’s family amid much pressure from parents, Hindu outfits and Vyapaar Sangh members who created chaos in the school following the attack. Najma was furious after a few students complained that her daughter had bunked school to see her boyfriend.

Najma and others have been booked under sections 147 (rioting), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the IPC. The school has also filed a police complaint. “An FIR has been registered after complaints were received from the school and some students’ parents. This has been registered against… mother (Najma) and other persons,” said station house officer (Sadar) Pankaj Pant, reports Indian Express. “We have given the CCTV camera footage backup to the police to help them in identification. Proper investigation will be done against those involved in the incident and the girls will not be taught here anymore,” said Tara Chand Shastri, chairman, Meerut Public Schools group.

The incident took place in Meerut Public School for Girls. On Monday, Yakub Qureshi’s daughter Nazma accompanied by her husband, two women, and eight others, barged into Class VIII C of the school and beat up a 13-year-old girl, a classmate of Qureshi’s granddaughter. Following the suspension of three girls from Qureshi’s family, the school authorities said, “We have rusticated three students from Yakub Qureshi’s family. The school does not wish to teach anti-social elements like them. In fact, we have found out from the CCTV footage that the boys who accompanied Ramsha’s mother were students from Meerut Public School (Main Wing). We are in the process of identifying them. Once that is done, even they will be rusticated.”
