CBFC Removes Riot Scene, Modifies Quran, Gita Dialogues In Sunny Deol-starrer Gadar2

New Delhi, 2nd August 2023: Gadar 2, starring Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel, is due to hit theatres on August 11, aligning with the Independence Day. The trailer for Anil Sharma’s film was released last month. It shows Sunny Deol’s character Tara Singh striving to defend the honour of his country and family.

According to sources, the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has given Gadar 2 a U/A certificate with 10 edits.

The censor board has requested that a sequence with rioters chanting ‘Har Har Mahadev’ be removed from the film. A discourse containing the Quran and the Bhagavad Gita has also been altered.

According to reports, the title of Defence Minister was misspelt in the film, hence it was changed to ‘Raksha Mantri’.

Cuss words such as ‘b***d’ have also been changed in the film. Furthermore, ‘Shiv Tandav’ shlokas have also been replaced.

The film has dramatic language as well as high-octane action scenes including military tanks, vehicles, and the legendary ‘hand pump’. Utkarsh Sharma, Simrat Kaur, Manish Wadhwa, and Gaurav Chopra all play important parts in Gadar 2.

At the box office, the film will compete with Akshay Kumar and Pankaj Tripathi’s OMG 2. OMG 2 was similarly subjected to up to 27 edits before receiving a ‘A’ certificate from the CBFC.
