Delhi, Sept 28th, 2022: The Central Bureau of Investigation(CBI) on Tuesday arrested the CEO of Mumbai-based management company Only Much Louder and a close aide of Delhi Deputy CM Manish Sisodia, Vijay Nair in connection to the Delhi excise policy scam case.
CBI had earlier issued lookout notices against Nair and seven others accused of irregularities in the capital’s now withdrawn excise policy.
Among the accused are Dy CM and AAP leader Manish Sisodia, former Excise Commissioner Arva Gopi Krishna, Deputy Commissioner Anand Tiwari, and Assistant Commissioner Pankaj Bhatnagar.
Responding to Nair’s arrest, the Aam Aadmi Party(AAP) has released a statement claiming that Nair was pressurized into falsely naming Manish Sisodia and was threatened to be arrested as well.
“Vijay Nair is the communication in charge of AAP. He has nothing to do with the excise policy. Strangely, he has been arrested by CBI”, the statement read.
“Nair was called for questioning in the last few days and was pressurized to take the name of Manish Sisodia. When he refused to do that, he was threatened that he would be arrested”, it further said.
AAP has further blamed the Modi-led Bhartiya Janta Party(BJP) for the arrest of Nair. The Kejriwal-led party in their statement alleged that this was part of the BJP’s to crush AAP and obstruct their ongoing Gujarat campaign.
“BJP is unable to digest the rapidly growing vote share of AAP in Gujarat”, they said.
Vijay Nair’s offices and home in Mumbai were also raided by CBI and the Enforcement Directorate(ED) in connection to the case.
