Mar. 22, 2017: CBSE has finally done away with the CCE or the Continuous Cumulative Evaluation System for good. As per the new circular released by the Central Board of Secondary Education yesterday, the CCE system has officially ended. Instead, the CBSE has now introduced the Uniform System of Assessment, Examination and Report Card across all CBSE affiliated schools. The new system is essentially a retreat to the old pattern of examination and assessment, based largely on the written tests and leaving about 10 percent weight to the other activities. The new mandate has one important change however. As per the circular, the changes would endeavour to bring a uniform system of assessment across all CBSE schools starting from Class VI instead of Class X.
The move has been done to provide a standard system across all schools. The CBSE has clarified in the circular that objective is to effectively assist the student to be prepared for the Board Examinations in Class 10. Not only are the schools required to follow the suggestions, they are also required to maintain report cards in the same format for all students starting from Class VI. Further, the CBSE has also mandated that all Report Cards should have the CBSE logo on them. The change is said to bring a standard assessment across schools and also help in student migration within Board affiliated schools for various reasons. Also, CBSE circular suggests that the gradual assessment structure proposed would effectively assist in increasing the quality of education over the years.
