New Delhi, 31st July 2023:Â Akhil Bharatiya Shiksha Samagam 2023 was launched in Bharat Mandapam, Pragati Maidan, New Delhi on July 30th, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in attendance.
Dharmendra Pradhan, Union Minister of Education and Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, also introduced the ULLAS: Nav Bharat Saksharta Karyakram logo, tagline, and mobile application on the event. The event took place on the third anniversary of NEP 2020.
Union Minister Pradhan addressed the audience, emphasising the importance of the ULLAS mobile application in harnessing technology to enable wider access to basic literacy.
The ULLAS programme aspires to transform education and literacy across the country by creating a holistic learning ecosystem that caters to each individual, overcoming gaps in basic literacy and vital life skills.
Its mission includes fostering functional literacy, occupational skills, and important life skills such as financial literacy, legal literacy, digital literacy, and citizen empowerment to engage in nation-building.
The app, which is accessible on both Android and iOS platforms, serves as a digital gateway to connect learners with a variety of educational resources via NCERT’s DIKSHA site. Learners and volunteers can register themselves or through surveyors.
The curriculum primarily targets persons aged 15 and up who have not had the opportunity to complete formal schooling. It runs by volunteerism, encouraging volunteers to assist in nation-building as DUTY or Kartavya Bodh.
According to ANI, student volunteers will be rewarded with credits in school/university and praise in the form of certificates, letters of gratitude, and felicitation, among other things.
“ULLAS: Nav Bharat Saksharta Karyakram,” the campaign’s freshly announced logo and motto, represents the campaign’s passion and vigour in disseminating knowledge and education to every corner of the country.
The initiative aims to spark interest and constant learning in each individual while also developing a culture of knowledge-sharing in communities across India.
