Mumbai, Sept 29th, 2022: The Union government on Wednesday approved the Indian Railways’ redevelopment plans for Mumbai CST, New Delhi, and Ahemdabad stations which is expected to cost ₹10 crores.
“New Delhi railway station will integrate train services with buses, auto & metro rail services. Ahmedabad railway station redesign inspired by Modera’s Sun temple. CSMT’s heritage building won’t be touched but buildings nearby will be re-developed”, said Union Railways minister Ashwini Vaishnaw.
All three stations will have a spacious roof plaza along with spaces for retail outlets, cafeterias, and recreational facilities, among others. Green building techniques will be used while redeveloping the stations.
The redevelopment has been on the government’s radar since Lalu Prasad Yadav was the Railways Minister as well as the Modi government proposed the participation of private sector companies. The revamp project is likely to complete by 2026.
