Mobilised / Miniaturised / Cloud Computing

Increased pressure on productivity in a highly competitive environment has led most of us to compete with time and develop Multi-tasking abilities. Complementing these abilities are the technological innovations which augment productivity. MMCC (Mobilised / Miniaturised / Cloud Computing), as I would like to name it today, seems a near
reality. I am sure a better terminology would evolve soon for this.Mobilised, as just a decade back we neverthought Mobile phones would be a reality and even further, that a mobile would be able to perform tasks which were earlier limited to computers and age old cameras. The whole world is converging on to the mobile platform;Internet, Online
Shopping, Banking, Video streaming, Data sharing etc.

Miniaturised, since the entire lot of bulky gizmos have shrunk to fit into the palm of your hand, needless to mention without compromising on it’s capabilities or sheer power packed performance. In fact the new generation of the technology is much more advanced to deliver more than what the age old computers or a mobile phone would have been capable of. Cloud computing, so as to bring cost economies and simultaneously be competitive. Reasons why this is a near reality:
1. The social function of the cell phone has changed as the technology has converged. Cell phone today have functions of an internet connection, E-mail application, Video Calling, Windows Office Applications(Word, Excel, PPT etc.), Messenger App, Video Player, MP3 player, Camera, Online Shopping and now Retail Banking is also fast catching up the trend. Android, iOS and Windows OS based phones are all capable of all the above stated applications. Thereby increasing your power to do more from wherever you are.
2. Intel’s latest “Compute Stick” fits a full Windows PC right in the palm of your hand. Powered via a Micro USB port, it packs a quad core 1.3 Ghz Intel Atom Z3735F processor paired with 2GB RAM and 32 GB storage space. A micro SD card slot on the side can support up to 128 GB cards. There’s a USB port so one can plug in an external device or a USB key. In built WiFi and Bluetooth 4.0 can pair your peripherals. It boots in a few seconds but is definitely not for everyone, and as of now it certainly won’t replace a proper desktop. But like I said, it isn’t far when this becomes reality. What this means is that your computer / laptop is becoming even more powerful in a power packed design.
3. Cloud computing is the result of evolution and adoption of existing technologies and paradigms. The goal of the cloud computing is to allow users to take benefit from all of these technologies, without the need for deep knowledge about or expertise with each one of them. The cloud aims to cut down costs, and helps the users focus on their core business instead of being impeded by IT obstacles. It enables companies to consume compute resources as a utility, rather than having to build and maintain computing infrastructures in house. In a nutshell, if the above three mentioned reasons are synched with the end user’s requirement, the day is not far when one would carry his/her office chores within the confines of his pocket. If I have to predict, a sleek 4.5 inch~10.0 inch smartphone or a phablet coupled with a small USB powered encrypted computing stick is all that you would carry and the confidential data would be accessible through subscribed cloud computing service provider, making MMCC is reality. The future surely looks promising and more compelling to compete.
