New Delhi, 15th May 2023: Following the results being announced for the students of Class X and XII, India’s academic environment is a bit tense and buzzing. The Class XII students have to take the important decision of choosing their colleges, the Class X students now have that all important choice for choosing their career in the Sciences, Commerce or Humanities.

Amidst these important life moments, the Pro-Vice Chancellor of the Delhi Skill and Entrepreneurship University, Dr Rihan Khan Suri, offered his sound advice in an attempt to guide the students in making the right decision for themselves.

Talking about the common subject-selection practices prevalent in India that range from choosing subjects as a result of peer pressure or simply following what the family elders ask them to do, he stresses how it is not a healthy practice for the students.

These ideas rob them of thinking for themselves and making decisions on their own, he called out for the parents to let the students do whatever streams they wish to venture into.

‘Think about the profession that you wish to end up working into, and then choose the subjects that would aid you in the journey to get there,’ he said.

Stressing that the world is constantly changing, he said that all the subjects are equally important and it depends on the individual goals, dedication and commitment to the said goals that ensures a successful professional life for the students.
