CONGRESS DEMANDS HIGH-LEVEL PROBE INTO THE INCIDENT OF SCHOOL CHILDREN FALLING ILL AFTER EATING MID-DAY MEALS AT EAST DELHI MCD SCHOOL—ARVINDER SINGH—CONGRESS DEMANDS REGISTRATION OF CRIMINAL CASES AGAINST THOSE RESPONSIBLE—WIDESPREAD CORRUPTION IN THE MCD RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS INCIDENT.

NEW DELHI, July 3—Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee(DPCC) president Shri Arvinder Sing. h, MLA has appealed to the Lt. Governor to hold an high-level probe into the incident of school children falling sick after taking mid-day meals at an MCD school in East Delhi todayShri Arvinder Singh said there was wide-spread corruption in the MCD at all levels, and that was the cause of this incident.

Shri Arvinder Singh said this was not the first time that children had fallen sick after taking mid-day meals in MCD schools. The Pradesh Congress said in all the schools of the MCD, in the name of mid-day meals, the BJP leaders were indulging in scandals. He said the role of the BJP leaders in the mid-day meal scheme should be probed. Shri Arvinder Singh said the Congress councillors in the East Delhi MCD will take up this matter forcefully at the house session. He said to prevent such incidents in future, proper steps should be taken in all the MCD schools, to ensure that the lives of the school children were not put to risk.

Congress Legislature Party leader Shri Haroon Yusuf and Pradesh Congress chief spokesperson and senior leader Shri Mukesh Sharma demanded that those responsible for holding the mid-day meal feast should be held responsible this incident, cases should be registered against them, and arrested. They have also requested the Lt. Governor that the organizations and contractors who supply mid-day meals to MCD schools, should be re-evaluated and the guilty should be black-listed.
