Following this, the Congress attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday over the Centre’s decision to rename the Nehru Memorial Museum and Library.
Senior leader and Congress spokesperson Jairam Ramesh slammed the Centre, tweeting, “Pettiness & Vengeance, thy name is Modi,” and adding,
This arose after the Nehru Memorial Museum and Library Society had a special meeting and decided to change its name to the Prime Ministers’ Museum and Library Society. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, the Society’s Vice-President, presided over the Special Meeting.
This comes as earlier in 2016, Prime Minister Narendra Modi proposed establishing a museum dedicated to all India’s prime leaders on the Teen Murti site.
The NMML Executive Council authorised this project during its 162nd November 25, 2016 meeting. The Pradhanmantri Sangrahalaya opened to the public on April 21, last year.
