New Delhi (India), April 27, 2023: Prominent Congress leaders, including Randeep Singh Surjewala, Dr. Parmeshwar, and Chief of Karnataka Congress DK Shivakumar, have filed a police complaint against Union Home Minister Amit Shah and other BJP leaders in Bengaluru.
The complaint, filed at the High Grounds police station, accuses Amit Shah of making provocative statements, promoting enmity and hatred, and maligning the opposition during his recent rallies in poll-bound Karnataka.
In the complaint, Amit Shah and concerned BJP leaders are alleged to have made flagrantly false statements aimed at tarnishing the image of the Indian National Congress by leveling false and unfounded allegations. The complaint also accuses them of attempting to create an atmosphere of communal disharmony amongst the gathered crowd and the individuals viewing it on other media platforms.
DK Shivakumar, after filing the complaint, said that the Union Home Minister had said that if Congress comes to power, then there will be communal riots. The complaint, which mentions the organizers of the rally at Vijaypura and other locations in Karnataka on April 25, cites sections like 153, 505(2), 171G, and 120B of the IPC.
The complaint also includes a video link to the alleged hate speech. It is to be noted that Amit Shah is doing back-to-back rallies as the BJP’s star campaigner for the Karnataka Assembly Polls scheduled for May 10.
The police complaint against Amit Shah and other BJP leaders has caused a stir in the political circles of Karnataka, with the opposition Congress party intensifying its campaign against the ruling BJP. The police are expected to take action on the complaint soon, and the matter is likely to become a major talking point in the run-up to the polls.
