New Delhi, Dec 5, 2022: After casting his vote at a polling station Ahmedabad, PM Modi spearheaded a mega 50 km roadshow in Gujarat called the “Pushpanjali Yatra”.

The massive roadshow passed through 35 areas of the city including 13 constituencies in Ahmedabad and one in the Gandhinagar district.

Criticising the roadshow on election day, Congress leader Pawan Khera questioned the silence and zero initiative on Election Commission’s part and stated that the poll body is “willingly under pressure”.

“During the polling day, PM Modi did a roadshow of two & half hours while he went to cast his vote. Will appeal to EC against it, seems like Election Commission is willingly under pressure. The government, the party, the administration, the election machinery, everything is rolled into one in Gujarat,” Pawan Khera said.

He also mentioned that his party will take “necessary steps” and prevail upon the Election Commission of India. Alleging that BJP distributed liquor in Gujarat, Khera said that Congress had also shared visuals of the incident with the EC.

Jagdish Thakur, the head of the Gujarat Congress, slammed the PM saying that he had violated the election code of conduct by carrying out a road show on election day and that the Election Commission had taken BJP’s side.

Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee also took a swipe at PM’s roadshow and sharply criticized the Election Commission for “special” treatment towards PM.

“Roadshow is not permitted on the day of voting but Prime Minister Modi and his party are VVIPs, they can do anything and they will be excused. We, political parties, have to abide by the rules of the Election Commission. On election day, roadshows are banned. But they are special people,” Mamata Banerjee said at the Kolkata airport.
