New Delhi: After BJP Ministers were panned by women’s rights groups for their misogynistic and sexist remarks on newly inducted Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, whom One of the BJP Leader called “just a beautiful face.”
Leading to that on Monday, India Mahila Congress President Sushmita Dev and Delhi Mahila Congress President Sharmistha Mukherjee protested against vulgar and sexist remarks passed by BJP leaders and the malicious social media campaign against Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra.
Delhi Mahila Congress Leader Sharmistha Mukherjee also lodged an FIR at Parliament Police Station in New Delhi.
Speaking to Ten News Delhi Congress Spokesperson, Sharmistha Mukherjee said,
“Women fight daily battles. Sexist comments made by any politician, no matter which side of the fence are not at all acceptable. Ever since Priyanka Gandhi joined active politics, several BJP leaders made derogatory remarks. While we chose to ignore them, it has triggered a malicious campaign against her on social media”.
Sje further said, “Today there are not many women politicians because often they are subjected to harassment and hatred like this. Our aim is to seek action not just for the remarks against Gandhi but all women who are subjected to such attacks on social media or otherwise.”
