Under-construction housing society sealed by #GDA
Ghaziabad: The Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA) has sealed an under-construction group housing society, Meadows Vista-2, in Rajnagar Extension. The action was taken after GDA found the builder, Value Infra Group, guilty on many counts, including non-payment of external development charges (EDC), unauthorised construction and flouting of NGT norms.
“The enforcement wing sealed off the second phase of 14-storey Meadows Vista in Rajnagar Extension on Tuesday,” said D P Singh, officer on special duty, GDA. “The action was taken after the builder, despite repeated notices, did not pay a sum of Rs 10.75 crore of EDC that was due since 2008. The builder had also done unauthorised construction in towers E, G and H,” he said.
GDA has made a list of 36 more defaulters, against whom action will be taken shortly. The crackdown on such builders was started on the order of GDA vice-chairman Vijay Kumar Yadav some months ago. Meadows Vista-2 has about 400 flats, and 80% of the flats have already been booked. Despite repeated attempts by TOI, no representative of the builder was available for comment.
