Cops, residents clash in Loni, 12 injured

A clash between a police team and residents of Baag Ranap in Loni left at least 12 injured — six of them cops — on Thursday. The police team was in the area to arrest a man accused of power theft.

The cops retaliated with a lathicharge after reinforcements arrived from Sahibabad police station. The Ghaziabad SP also rushed to the spot, sources said. “On seeing the police, Suraj tried to run away. He fell on the road and sustained a head injury. People in the area got agitated and started pelting stones at the police party,” said a senior police officer.
