Sydney (Australia), 23rd May 2023: Prime Minister Narendra Modi met and addressed Indian community today at one of Sydney’s largest sporting facilities. He emphasized that the bond between India and Australia goes beyond cricket, which has historically linked us.

To thunderous applause from a screaming audience of over 20,000, the Prime Minister listed the cooking TV show ‘Masterchef,’ Yoga, tennis, films and the culturally diverse Indian community as evidence of the two countries’ increasing affinity.

He stated that India is on track to become a developed nation over the next 25 years, and he also stated that India will soon construct a new consulate in Brisbane.

He said, “Cricket has kept us connected for a very long time…and now tennis and films serve as other connecting bridges. There was a period when India-Australia ties were defined by the three Cs: Commonwealth, Cricket, and Curry. Then there was 3Ds: Democracy, Diaspora, and Dosti. It was all about Energy, Economy, and Education when it became 3Es. However, the actual depth of India-Australia relations goes beyond these C, D, and E..”

In his address to the enthusiastic audience, he emphasised many achievements made by India.

He said that India has the world’s fastest-growing big economy, and that the country had the fastest vaccination campaign during Covid. Further he said, India is “number one” in terms of smartphone data consumers, fintech acceptance, and milk production.

PM Modi went on to say that India is “number two” in the world in terms of internet users, mobile phone manufacture, rice, wheat, sugarcane production, and fruit and vegetable production. According to him, India boasts the world’s third-largest startup environment and the world’s third-largest automobile and civil aviation markets.

As he welcomed his “dear friend” and compared him to American musician Bruce Springsteen, Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese stated that his Indian counterpart receives a “rock star reception” wherever he goes.
